Emperor Alexios IV Angelos of Byzantium

Alexios IV Angelos (r. 1203-1204)- The son of Isaac II who I would say was the worst out of the 3. Imprisoned together with his father in 1195, he later was broken out and fled west to seek refuge later finding himself in Venice to ask for their assistance in putting him in power as well as restoring his father. In return the Venetians agreed to aid him with the 4th Crusade as Alexios agreed to pay the Crusaders a heavy sum of money. Though successfully ousting his uncle Alexios III and taking the throne with his blind father in 1203, Alexios IV could not fulfill his promise in paying the Crusaders' debts. At the end, the debts were never paid as Alexios IV in early 1204 was overthrown by Alexios Mourtzouphlos who became Alexios V. Alexios IV was then killed in prison while his father Isaac II died of a heart attack hearing of his son's death. What followed 3 months later was the brutal sack of Constantinople by the 4th Crusade army.
